The city now offers a new website, check louisvilleky.gov/BikeLouisville that contains a "cost calculator" to estimate how much can be saved by biking rather than driving.
How about a site using a "cost calculator" to track how much is being wasted by Metro Parks in forcing mountain bikers to drive all the way to Otter Creek in order to get in a long mountain bike ride.
There's undoubtedly thousands of dollars, most of which is heading back overseas to countries and peoples that act against our interests, being spent by local mountain bikers due to Metro Parks elitist trail policies.
Unfortunately you're on your own when it comes to advocacy in regards to gaining access to the Jefferson Memorial Forest or Iroquois Park, two venues we were booted out of years ago. The local advocacy group speaks highly of Metro Parks policies and has shown little, if any, interest in speaking up on behalf of mountain bikers.
Just as Metro Parks has decided to deprive inner-city youth of access to swimming pools, they've long decided to deprive mountain bikers of access to our public trail systems.
louisville got voted the #2
louisville got voted the #2 most improved city for cycling in bicycling magazine. was noted about its bike summit coming again and the "louisville loop". If the summit does come around again i blieve you've got them to include mting in there this time correct???? It was behind only washington DC.
It may not be mountainbiking oriented just yet but louisville has more maintained trails than anywhere else in ky.
Owensboro can't even get their commuter lanes put in even after they get their funding for it. they decided to change the plan and loose their money for that. WE (mountainbikers) are getting blamed at ben hawes sp for cutting down trees when its the surrounding neighborhood using the chainsaws in their own yards. (we are under new management at ben hawes so at least one of them have gotta show their guns)
