NORTHEAST METRO LOOP CORRIDOR
Public Meeting Notice
An introductory public meeting to begin the planning process for the
Metro Loop's route in the northeast corridor - between Shelbyville Road
and River Road - takes place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2007,
at the activities center in E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, 3000 Freys
Hill Road.
The "Northeast Corridor" will be the section of the 100+ mile Metro Loop
that connects the Floyd's Fork Corridor/21st Century Parks project to
the planned River Rd. bikeway, a critical and challenging connection in
the 100 mile loop. Much of it will likely involve on-street bikeway
facilities due to topographic and right of way constraints, so input as
to preferred route alternatives from experienced cyclists is essential
in this area. This is also the section that will connect to the Oldham
County Greenway, which is also under development.
At this meeting, participants will hear an overview of the project, then
break into small groups to look at maps of their neighborhoods and
discuss route alternatives. At least two additional public meetings
will allow citizens to review and respond to design alternatives as the
planning process moves forward. Planning should be complete by July
2008, at which time public input will have shaped a proposed route for
the Metro Loop in the northeastern corridor.
A project web site - at
www.louisvilleky.gov/MetroParks/cityofparks/projects/northeastloop.htm -
will allow citizens to:
* sign up to receive meeting notices and project updates via e-mail.
* send feedback to the planning team.
* review and respond to documents and presentations as the planning
process moves forward (in case they can't attend meetings in person).
