Calling All Cyclists:
Mayor Abramson will be holding a press conference on December 5 at 1:30
PM to announce the opening of the Levee Trail connection between
Waterfront Park and Farnsley-Moreman Landing. The event will be at 10th
& River Rd., on the Riverwalk. Please bring your bikes if possible.
The press conference will, I believe, also announce the formal name of
the previously-called "Metro Loop" 100 Mile Trail around Louisville.
For those of you who are unaware, the connection of the Levee Trail to
the Riverwalk will be completed by the press conference between Lees Ln.
and Shawnee Park, utilizing "Road Diets" on Southwestern and Algonquin
Parkways (going from 4 lanes to 3 with bike lanes) as well as additional
paths, bike lanes along Campground Rd., and a brand new bike/ped bridge
across Mill Creek. It will be worth a ride if you have the time and
cold-weather gear after the press conference.
Thanks to all who are able and willing to show up; we would like to have
a strong showing from the cycling community to mark the event.
Thanks again,
Jon Villines
