hey everyone, I recently received an email from a member of the KY Horse Council announcing an upcoming public meeting regarding trails in the Cave Run area. These meetings may be old news for many of you folks around Cave Run, but I thought I'd post it, just in case.
IMPORTANT PUBLIC INPUT MEETING-
A public input meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 24th at 6 pm regarding the potential for a new trail system in the Beaver Creek Brushy area of Cave Run Lake .
(This encompasses approximately 8,000 acres from Zilpo highway to Brushy.) Trail Riders need to participate in this process if we want to expand our trail riding opportunities. We look forward to seeing you there.
Sorry about the late post,
Sorry about the late post, but here is an update regarding the meeting tonight.
The meeting is an Integrated Resource Management meeting, which is a public input session for the use of ALL resources in the area. Multi-use trails are just one use of the forest resources.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss information provided in prior public meetings, and to define additional information regarding the use of ALL resources in that area. It is not designed to talk specifically about trails or identify creation of new trails.
The meeting will be held at Twin Knobs Campground and will begin at 6:00 p.m. Directions to the campground follow.
From I-64 take exit #133, Sharkey/Farmers
Off the ramp take Highway 801 south
Stay on 801 go past the Fish Hatchery, pass the dam and pass Shallow Flats
The next site you will come to is Twin Knobs Campground (about 9 miles from I-64)
Take a right into Twin Knobs
The meeting will be at the Twin Knobs Group Use Area in the campground.
Do any attendees of that
Do any attendees of that meeting have any 411 to share????
Must have been a hooves fest
Must have been a hooves fest kind of meeting.... :(
not sure about this meeting
not sure about this meeting but the most recent about the comprehensive adventure tourism study sounded like a success for the mtb crowd in eastern ky. There is a rather long doccument out that shows the furture for eastern ky.
I attended another meeting
I attended another meeting last Wednesday in Frankfort with Mike Dulin and Pat Collins with State Parks and RTP leaders. Things are looking up for mountain biking in State Parks and I think there will be a few we'll focus on first with their help.
Care to elaborate Scott? If
Care to elaborate Scott? If not that's fine, but I saw Gonzo and Dulin (I believe) at Cave Run bike shop and it sounds like progress is being made slowly but surely here.
The meeting I went to was
The meeting I went to was about 'State Parks' specifically. Cave Run is in the Daniel Boone National Forest, although there is hopefully going to be some changes there as well it wasn't discussed at the 'State Park' meeting. Check out http://parks.ky.gov/ for more info on the state parks we have. There is biking in some of them but not all. Hopefully this will change in the next few years.
