I'm going to host a stree to turkeyfoot ride this weekend. Both rec areas are as dry as I've ever seen them right now (and I've seen them alot!).
Point to point between campgrounds is 20 miles. Round trip is 40. I will likely do this one way-starting at stree, and riding to the turkeyfoot campground. If anybody is interested in attending this please post. I think I will be able to secure somebody to shuttle us to stree (from tfoot), then we can ride point-to-point back to our cars at turkeyfoot.
I'm looking at either sat (30th) or sun (1st) , whichever one the most folks can attend. Meet at tfoot around 10am, leave from the campground at stree around 11 am or so.
Please post if interested.
I'm definitely interested.
I'm definitely interested. I need to run the idea past the g/f and get some directions. I'll keep you updated if I plan on attending. I'm not sure if I can handle 40 miles so let me know if you can't get a shuttle.

This is a great intro ride for two seperate rec areas here in the dbnf (in jackson county).
About 45 minutes from exit 76 Berea on I75. About one hour from exit 42 at London.
Probably about an hour from the Manchester exit of the mountain parkway.
US421 to Mckee, then 89 north (beside the courthouse). About 5 miles past the courthouse look from the big triangular sign (USFS REC AREA) to Turkeyfoot.
Forecast is for great weather too.
Thanks for the invite. I
Thanks for the invite. I would have came down but my wife had to work and I had to watch my kids. Hopefully next time.

Sorry we missed ya. Nine of us rode at turkeyfoot yesterday morning. It was a Jackson/Laurel/Whitley/Knox co crowd. It rained just enough friday night to make some small mudholes, but the trail was fine. I got out on the ridge behind the carwash and had a flat. Too much fun.
I'm usually good to ride in this area anytime ya can get down here. I may ride the Laurel Lake trail about lunchtime. Happy Trails.
