On my first day of work I decided to commute. Locked by bike on campus directly in front of the library door. At noon at lunch time it was there and then I didn't see it at 3 p.m., my break time. I reported it to the campus police, 2 were stolen last week that I didn't know about or I wouldn't have ridden mine, but they were recovered, and they told me they would try to find it. I've looked everywhere, but with no success. As soon as I get big into biking this happens. I was going for a ride everyday. I'm not sure what to do now or how I can afford another since I used my refund check to buy the last bike. I'll work on saving up for another bike. I'm sure I'll get another eventually. Anyways, keep an eye out for a Giant Yukon that needs an O ring on the headset and has Rincon blue (nonmatching paint) on the lower part of the right triangle (on the rear of the bike). It also has a pair of egg beater pedals. My guess is the bike is out of state since there isn't much of a market for them around here. John and April are going to get my serial number for me. I haven't unpacked yet so it would take me forever to find it. Any advice would be helpful.

First off let me say how
First off let me say how sorry I am to hear about this. I know how much the you have been enjoying your bike.
What size bike do you ride? I have a GT Zaskar that you can use as long as you need it if it will fit you. The cables are old and will probably need to be replaced before it shifts very well. It has full xt componants, carbon fiber handle bars, Chris King head set, cross ride wheels, etc. It's a great bike and I have ridden it for years. I've only used it for trail maintenance or when my full suspension is down for several years. I'm a little over six feet tall.
Rod, sorry to hear about
Rod, sorry to hear about your mis-fortune. I might have an old rigid (21 speed) out in my shed, if you just need an old beater to ride around on. It wouldn't be nearly as nice as Boonerider's Zaskar, but if something happens to it, it's not much of a loss.
The Yukon was a 19 inch.
The Yukon was a 19 inch. I'm about 5'10-6'0 feet. I'm not sure to be honest. If the Zaskar will fit me I would like to borrow it. Don't worry I won't be commuting anymore. I only live eight tenths of a mile away from work. I was just trying to find another way to enjoy my bike. Oh yea Don they don't care about "old beaters" or KHS brands on campus. A brand new KHS, without a scratch, hasn't been stolen through the night, but my Yukon was stolen midday. Oh yea another bike was on the same rack as mine, but was untouched. I was definitely enjoying riding. I rode 10 miles off of 799, the road that takes you over the interstate on the east side of Morehead, on Friday. I rode Lakeview with a friend the day before it was stolen. I'm definitely surprised someone stole my bike, but anyway to make a quick dollar. I'm just stumped as to why the other bike can sit out overnight, but the first time I have left my bike unattended, in the middle of the day, while its locked it gets stolen. People say things happen for a reason, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm trying to stay postive, but its hard. I like cracking jokes to my girlfriend, who said she would even pitch in for me a new bike, that now is a good time to upgrade.
To Don I believe it was stolen because of the super nice seat I got off of you, only joking. Thanks again for the seat and fork at a more than reasonable price. I never did get to thank you. I had finals the next day if I remember correctly.
Rod, that's a shame that no
Rod, that's a shame that no sooner do you get some upgrades installed that a local thief makes off w/the bike.
Keep your fingers crossed that it hasn't travelled too far, and someone spots it for you!
I'm keeping my fingers
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that an oportunist that just happened to own a pair of bolt cutters stole my bike as compared to some organized person. He didn't get the KHS bike, that's more expensive and newer than my Yukon, so that gives me an idea that he doesn't know a lot about bikes. I have also asked around and I'm going today to give the police my serial number. Cave Run bikes looked it up for me and I'm going today to pick it up. It would have been impossible for me to find it considering I haven't unpacked my stuff yet. All you can do is hope.
Rod, I will try and drop it
Rod, I will try and drop it off at the bike shop tomorrow or Saturday. I have to pick my nephew up from school tomorrow so I'm not sure is I will get time to drop it off tomorrow. I'll try and get it to you Saturday after I ride my road bike.
Ride it like you own it. I don't care if something gets broken. It's a mt bike, stuff breaks so don't worry about that. Also, it has Time pedals. Do you have mt bike shoes? I may have an old set of cleats. They will be pretty worn but should still work fine. The front tire has a slow leak but stays up through a ride. The shifting and breaking is a bit sluggish due to old cables, you may be able to lube them and improve their performance.
Hope you enjoy it, I'ts been a true friend and needs to be ridden. It's been from Snowshoe WV to Tsali NC and on about every trail in the state.
I do have mountain bike
I do have mountain bike shoes and I still have my park tool fix anything while you're 10 miles from the middle of no where tool. I took it out of my bag. Thanks a lot for loaning me the bike. Picking the bike up out at the shop. I enjoy hanging out there. When I'm there I realize I sill have a lot to learn. I was out at the shop today and April found the serial number for me. I'll definitely lube and if your bike needs new cables that won't be a problem. I'll also fix the slow leak in the front tire. I will gladly fix the small things on your bike. I definitely want to meet you someday so I can thank you in person. Like I wrote earlier it's hard to stay positive, but this helps a lot. Drop the bike off whenever you get a chance. I'm not in a big hurry, but I do have to admit I'm excited to get back out on the trail. Oh yea, I almost forgot that I can definitely relate to you not feeling as welcome on kymba. I posted my bike was stolen and I'm not a new guy on the site considering I have 92 or something posts and nobody replies. On here Don and you offer to loan me bikes, which is unbelievable, and at the least people say sorry that sucks. Also, thanks again for loaning me the bike. I'll take good care of it.
Rod, I should be able to
Rod, I should be able to drop it off this evening. Glad to be able to help. Don't put any money into the bike. Save it to buy you a new one.
I can't beleive no one on KYMBA posted a reply to your thread.
I have a new tube sitting at
I have a new tube sitting at home Jim and 8-10 bucks for cables is nothing. I have a new cable in my car or in the place somewhere. I didn't expect anything major when I posted on kymba. I asked about some advice on what to do besides what I had already done and if you see something similar to the description of my bike to contact me, but not a reply. I just wanted to point out the difference and thank Scott for creating the site. This site has a good community that truly cares about mountain biking.
I'll get out to the shop and get it this evening. Thanks again Jim.
The bike is at the shop. I
The bike is at the shop. I forgot the time cleats. Hopefully John will have an old set that you can borrow.
I picked the bike up. John
I picked the bike up. John didn't have a set of cleats so I bought a pair. I've already laid them down and I have no idea where they are. The bike is extremely nice Jim. I'm going to get spoiled riding such a nice bike. My old bike weighed twice as much as yours.
Just have fun. sorry about
Just have fun. sorry about the cleats. They were worn out anyway. You will like the Times.
