Just asking. This is a site about riding and I was curious to hear some riding stories. Gonzo Billy and I rode a 60.10 mile death march on Saturday called MuleFace. Up 801 hill and back down the other side. Gonzo show us some sites that I didn't know existrd east of the gorge. Bouldering on both sides of the road and killer views. My favorite road ride to date. Although my legs cramped worse than they have ever cramped after that ride. The views were out out this world. Rode down Muleface and it was an ass clincher. 20% grade crazy downhill.
Rode Zilpo yesterday 20 miles. Rough head wind the whole way but I rode none the least. I a rambling and I can't stop. My ambian sleep pill has kick in and I don't really know what ai'm writing. So tell me bout your recent rides and I can fall to seel with a smile on me face. (i'm not weird, just medicated)

anyone turning peddals?
I headed out the door at 6:15am Wednesday to monster truck some knobby tires on the streets in the valley here. It was such a nice morning to be out cranking. Darkness to daylight and some peace for a while. Around 7am it was like someone opened the gates and people were everywhere....
Almost Barfed
I hit England-Idlewild Park last weekend. I was so excited to be riding dry trails again that I kind of overdid it. Well, to put it more accurately, I tackled the 4.5 mile Advanced 1 loop as if it were a 200 yard BMX course. The result? I came as close to actually barfing on the trail as I have in years.
What'd I do about it? Naturally I immediately hit Advanced 2 with just as much gusto! Duh!!! ;-)
I only put in 120 miles last
I only put in 120 miles last week and two 22+ hour drives to ride Fruita and Moab. Too bad it has been raining this week. I do plan on hitting Ferdinand in the morning or at least a long road ride.
If anyone is interested in seeing more pictures then I posted on here, you can see them here

Turning Peddals
Last Friday I rode Lakeview and out to Twin Knobs. It was roughly a 12 mile ride. On the descent toward the camp ground a red squirrel was in the road and I chased it all the down the road until I caught up with it. When I caught up it shot out of the trail and up a tree. It was pretty cool. I have some pictures that I need to post here soon. I rode Lakeview again Saturday, but not as far. I basically rode to the top just to descent toward the visitors center. It was a lot of fun zipping around trees at 20+ mph on singletrack and semi slicks. I need to put some knobby tires on for traction. I've been riding the road a lot so I have those tires on my bike. I'm probably going to ride buckskin this weekend. Everyone is always welcome.
Turning Pedals
I rode Capital View twice this past week. First chance I'd had to give the singlespeed a proper workout. Had a great ride both nights. The trails were prime, the bike was prime and I enjoyed every second of it. Even the hills that I had to push. Still have some tweaking to do on the bike, but the fun factor was pretty high. I was suprised that there wasn't more people out. I usually see several people on such pretty evenings but I was nearly alone except for the deer.
I've ridden at CVP about 5
I've ridden at CVP about 5 times in the past month. Me and a few others are doing a regular Sunday morning ride and then I get over there about once a week. Planning on getting over to Cave Run and down to Laurel in May.

Man I need to get back to Capitol View. I love riding there.

Capitol View. I haven't rode there yet, but I met a couple of guys at Lakeview last weekend that said the same thing so it must be some good riding. I definitely want to get out there someday soon.
I rode Lakeview again today.
I rode Lakeview again today. Today was the 3rd ride in two weeks. I rode it pretty hard since I was afraid of getting wet. If the weather permits it I'll get out to Buckskin tomorrow. It didn't rain at the lake, but on the way back into town I hit the rain. I lucked out.

I climbed more hills on my SS then I have ever before!!
I also got my first flat tire in a long time!

I liked it a lot. I was kind of surprised when I saw the logging road climb. The trail didn't have any big changes in elevation so that's why it surprised me so much. That trail will be tons of fun once some trees are cleared.
Check the Buckskin topic for the trail conditions.
I decided to give Iroquois
I decided to give Iroquois Park (road ride) a shot on the way home last night. Lightly used by cyclists, Iroquois has ample elevation gain (330' over the 3.4 mile bottom loop) and well over half of the roads are closed to traffic.
About half of the lower loop is closed, and the entire top section is closed 5 days a week. Excellent park for making sure you're able to do some climbing and work on some endurance.
For a story at a later time, Iroquois would be perfect for mountain biking. It's about 700 acres, has full amenities, including a small lodge at the "top" section. There's a hodge-podge of loosely connected natural surface trails currently existing in the park. With a little TLC, Iroquois would offer some excellent single-track.
You are telling me I can
You are telling me I can almost see the place from my office. It has diven me nuts for years that I can't ride those trails.
Got out to Seneca Sunday
Got out to Seneca Sunday didn't get many miles.....singlespeed 1 Sean's legs 0.
There are some huge climbs
There are some huge climbs if you go far enough. 112 climb is a monster. The world class downhill on Buckskin is a killer. I've never seen anyone climb the whole thing nonstop. Not real sure what logging road climb you are talking about. All of Buckckin is singletrack. You'll love the rest of the trail.

It's a logging road for a while, but then the trail branches off and continues on up the hill beside the almost parallel. It's about a mile past the 108 connector and at the top of the hill there was a sign that read hog pin/ cave run trail left and buckskin right.

Ok, Now I know where you're talking about. There are many ways to avoid the fire road. I'll show ya soon.

Sounds great. I some how missed the 108 connector. Once I got to the top and turned around I saw the sign 108 connector 1 mile back the direction I came. I'm looking forward to avoiding that mountain.

Rode the Sheltowee near the visitors center to big limestone. I went out and back for a 6 mile loop.
Short road ride today, thru
Short road ride today, thru Eastgate Ind.Park, towards Middletown, over to Tom Sawyer park, just kind took whatever roads looked interesting. Not a lot of miles, but felt good to be out. Did find that "clipless" pedals are just not for me. Always used platforms on my mtn.bike, looks like it's going to be the same for the road bike. Tried several times, but just don't like the feeling of being clipped in--guess I'm in no danger of losing "Fred" status! Now to get the grass cut after all the rain-it's really tall again.
Rode the Sheltwoee across
Rode the Sheltwoee across from the visitor center to Big Limestone. Turned around and rode Lakeview. It was about eight miles. It was an easy ride with a friend. I also met the person who does the trail maintenance. Overall it was a nice ride. Felt good to get out of the room and relax before I do hours of homework.
I rode a leisurely 20 miles
I rode a leisurely 20 miles on the road on Saturday. My wife wanted to go to Bernheim Forest Sunday. On the way back I drove up Mitchell Hill Road because that's where I hear the major hill jamming goes on. Boy Howdy, that looks like one barfogenic ride. Can't wait to try it out.
Barfogenic. I can always
Barfogenic. I can always count on you, Andy.
18 miles Sunday AM. Oldham Cty > 146 - 1408 - 1818 - back down 2858 - 22 - 146. Some "barfogenic" climbs for a non-roadie, but too stubborn to get out of the big ring. Cross chaining like a fool.

Managed to slip in a 20 miler Saturday evening between rain showers. It put me at 807 miles since 1/1. Not great but better than last year at this time.
