Singletrack.net

Posted in

I'm getting Singletrack.net off the ground. Things are coming along. One cool thing is it will share user info with Bike Kentucky so you will not need to create another login. The code base is also shared so upgrades etc. will be simple. The meat will be different as well as the colors etc. but I intend to share the layout to make the two sites work together well and be easy to use.

I hope to make it live tonight. First thing will be some polls to help me decide which weekends to have the group rides. There will be 4 starting in May, one per month at the following locations; Cave Run, Mammoth Cave, Laurel Lake, Capitol View Park. More info on Singletrack.net later...

Yipeee!

I'm as giddy as school girl.

Sounds great. Whenever it's up let us know. I should be able to go ridin almost anytime.

I don't want to be the bad

I don't want to be the bad guy, but I guess I have to ask why? It sounds like you are going to have them fairly seamless. What will singletrack.net give you that this site could not??

If there is information that you want on that site, why not just post it here?? Granted, I like the name better, but not sure if that is a good enough reason.

The other thing to think about is you will compete with singletracks.com

I will visit either/both sites. I am glad that there seems to be a increase in traffic around here. It was not fun visiting to see the same posts as the last time I was here.

Thanks for the comments

The seamless part is just to allow easy updates to the software and keep users from having to have multiple accounts.

The intent of bringing back the site or rather using the domain name is going to be specifically for the group ride planning/discussion. BikeKentucky will be for all types of biking etc. Singletrack.net might also get a little more 'edgy' :)

There is no intention of competing with Singletracks.com which basically covers the entire US. What it would provide is a more local view of trails in Kentucky.

I didn't fully mean you

I didn't fully mean you would compete because of the content, more because of the names are so close. I ran in to that problem. Some people had a hard time pulling up my site even when I told them exactly what it was. For some reason they would always type in something else and find someone else's web site............ go figure.

I was not trying to stop you, but just figure that you could have one kick ass site and not have to mess with keeping two sites updated.

Its been around...

Singletrack.net is well known for those that would be interested in the group rides. Direct links etc. would be available here to show others the way.

Open for business

Open for business :)

Please remember you do not need to create a new account. Just login with the same account info you have here on BikeKentucky.com and your profile etc. carries over :)

For some reason my username

For some reason my username / password isn't recognized on singletrack.net...am I being screened? :)

Shouldn't be, check it again

Shouldn't be, check it again please.

I changed my password here

I changed my password here and it worked...I should have checked that last night. Thanks for the hard work, both sites are great!

Simple, effective and a cool color scheme. Another winner by Scott....

Thanks. I can't take too

Thanks. I can't take too much credit though. Drupal 5.0 makes it simple to get started. Granted some of the more advanced features take some time/knowledge to bend them to work like you want. I wish I had had this 5 years ago :)
