To kick off the camping season, Ky. State Parks' Annual Camper Appreciation Weekend is Friday thru Sunday. Stay at any one of the 2,600 camp sites in the 31 campgrounds for two nights, and only pay for one. Excellent low-cost camping opportunity, especially for anyone heading up to Butler this weekend for the IMBA Trail Care Crew.
If you've never been to Butler, there's a Walmart and plenty of shopping and places to eat less than 1 mile away (ie- if you forget to pack something, stores are only a couple of minutes away) not to mention a full-service restaurant on site.
