I just tried to reply to a post over at kymba...and was informed that I have been banned. I have no idea why, the only person I ever tried to pester was ss and . but that was on here... So are those guys officers of kymba? anywho I don't care anyway, just thought Czar might get a kick out of it...So I guess someone needs to welcome me to the darkside :)
Looks like I get to join the club!!!
Welcome to the club atvsmurf. As long as you don't wear dresses, don't ride a scooter while thinking you are saving the planet, don't whine when people discuss those who go against the grain just for attention and don't desire to be a club strength weakening anti-christ for mountain biking in Kentucky you'll enjoy your club membership. You're good people.... :)
Hey ATV
I just checked the site and it doesn't look like your banned. I know Admin were working on it all afternoon. I did hear there were some rather racial comments regarding the IMUS show that was deleted. check again
Marv
I just wanna ride my bike
Probably a glitch
Can't see why you would be banned. Or why anyone else would.
I can't even remember my password for Kymba. Nothing againts it, just never felt at home there.
Prime example
Here is a prime examlpe why I don't post on the other web site. Not that they don't have the right to tell people what they can say on their site but hey, they don't have the right. IMOA. Watch for this site to grow by leaps and bounds in the next few days/weeks. No one likes to be told what to say.
Here is a recent post by the site admin.
It was decided by the officers. The IMUS thread was the kicker.
Here's the deal:
A LOT of people view this site. A lot of those people are people in power, who garner a lot of respect in this state. The url to this website is sent out to a lot of people who hold power over land management and people who have a strong say in what happens to our trails. when those people get on this site and see threads like the IMUS thread, they get a very bad impression of KyMBA and mountain bikers in general.
We are in a position where we can not risk that.
KyMBA.org is NOT primarily a forum. KyMBA.org is a resource site where people can learn about mountain biking in Kentucky and discuss issue pertaining to mountain biking in Kentucky.
The forums have been abused for a long time. This was never meant to be a medium where people can spout of anything and everything they wanted. We posted rules and usage. We warned and we warned. But when it became obvious that too many people wouldn't follow the regulations for use, we had to make a change.
You can still get to the forums. Bookmark the forum page if you want. But understand that will are moderating these forums so that when children and professionals come for a visit, they are not treated to high-school-like antics and what seem to be ravings of racists. It simply will no longer be tolerated.
If you do not like the changes, you are more than welcome to leave.
Kymba post
You're right about this site growing by leaps and bounds. I saw someone already mention making this site the primary forum and the other site for advocacy only. People don't like being told what to write and getting restricted or banned. "If you do not like the changes, you are more than welcome to leave." This quote doesn't make me feel welcome and most people probably feel the same way. I was following the topic that got all of this started, but I didn't see anything that stood out as offensive. Maybe I just missed that post, but if they restrict any speech people are going to get upset and leave, especially if their forums are no longer user or member friendly. I hate to see kymba go down this road. I don't know a lot about kymba, since they're not well known in eastern kentucky, but I do know they are a mountain bike advocacy group and I hate seeing any pro mountain bike group go down this road. I'm sure events like this will make other people feel unwelcome which will cause membership to drop, loss of funds, less people on trail work days, ect. ect.
"I saw someone already
"I saw someone already mention making this site the primary forum and the other site for advocacy only"
:) who would that be :)
In all honesty the reason of czar getting booted back in the day, i supported. I know lots of folks don't understand why the current president told him to not show up for a small group ride, but i would have done the same thing then. Just always seemed like the guy was negative ALL THE TIME. Who wants to ride with folks like that. Then the pick posted of the Big middle finger did the trick. Present time i would more than welcome him to come along for any group ride. Just seems like the negativity has stopped. Or it could have been simply trying to judge someone from forums. I've meet several people off of singletrack or kymba in person that i thaught i would hate and have actually became pretty good riding buddies with.

Nick, after reading that I feel that your character is just like Gene's in some ways. Wow, it totally shocks me that you're like that because I never figured you to be that way. In my opinion along with many other's opinions you'd be an "edit" for saying a person wasn't welcome on a group ride because their thoughts on some trail issues were different and unpopular with the majority. I wasn't welcome on a group ride over my thoughts about some trail issues and that was the deal there folks. I wasn't negative ALL THE TIME like Nick said. The middle finger pic was posted by me as a laugh for myself as I was taking myself away from the club drama that many others have also taken themselves away from too and it was also a salute to the anti-social you don't follow our lead so you're not welcome in the club clique. I never asked to be unbanned after that because I totally took myself out of any involvement with that club. Worst $15 I ever spent!!!! I'd rather not associate with people that have a high school clique like you're not welcome to ride with us because you're trail issues thoughts aren't the same as the majority mindset and I now know Nick has that mindset just like Gene. Can't get along with everybody in life. Ride on because I plan to.... :)
I will say that what most of
I will say that what most of you don't even realize is the amount of communication that goes on behind the scenes over there. People that put up for the club have to sift through hundreds of emails a week just to get anything done. And in many cases they field quite a few comments that call their character out daily.
But then its those same folks that never show up at trail days, never clean up after the races, never do one bit of advocacy, and never assume any responsibility for the day to day activities of the club. They act as arm chair quareterbacks and when things don't go their way they fire off negative comments, and hateful emails.
Makes you wonder why more people don't run for office!
Most sites I go to are moderated and I got no beef with that. Is there really a need for an IMUS thread on a club related mountain bike site? No! Over here who cares cause its not an organized club that is responsibile for advocacy, swaying public opinion, and growing a sport. So I see why things are strict over there. Personally I rarely get on KYMBA and when I do I find the content lacking. But thats just cause I dont think I could stand to listen to one more person whine, or another argument over when a trail is too wet to ride.
Czar I respect nick for owning up to the truth and you should to. I remember when you got booted. And honestly I too saw you as a huge problem. You have strong opinion and while thats not a bad thing if you don't use them for the greater good then you are just another person crying and moaning. Further I don't recall it being one thing that got you tossed but a whole series of less than helpful comments about how we in Louisville should just say screw metro parks and go against their rules for cherokee park usage.
The whole time they were monitoring the site looking for just that sort of content.
Just my 2 cents
Looks like I get to join the club!!!
Looks like Sean shares the same views about me as Nick and Gene. Not one bit surprising based on the past and I'm cool with what they think of me because it doesn't matter.... :) A bunch of ya' could not handle my thoughts and opinions. Thoughts and opinions that included me bringing to discussion the good and bad sides of some trail issues. If more people would snip their puppet strings there would be less puppets. I snipped my own puppet strings.... :)
Enough keyboard boxing junk posting for me. I don't want to be one to further pollute this website. I will just smile at any further keyboard jabs towards me and I will think before I throw a keyboard jab. Back to the important keyboard pecking about bikes, trails and knobbies.... :)
enough with the czar bashing...
The amount of communication behind the scenes is the problem over there, also known as the clicks...duh... I remember the thread with differing Ideas on the trail...some dirt jumps were built by bmx'er/dirt jumpers illegally in the park, kymba officials stace was to use kymba labor/money to remove those jumps...czar's stace was that you should leave that thing to the parks, because when the kids that built the jumps find out it was the kymba that removed the jumps, then their retalliation could be devastating to the future of biking in the parks...all the kids would need to do, would be to start cutting rogue trails and busting a few bottles on the trail. that would prolly end any relation that bikers have with the parks, even if it wasn't "mountain bikers" doing the damage...and as far as his negative attitude...it was a relief from all the ass kissing that was surrounding him...if you can't handle the truth, then stay out of the conversation...ohhhh he was sooooo negative, do you know how lame that actually sounds...come on, if you tried that trolling crap on kymba...you would be banned...and another thing, if they didn't have an off topic area, then the Imus thread wouldn't have been on there in the first place...
Oh and btw I apparantely wasn't banned...not yet anyway...
Looks like I get to join the club!!!
That rocked atvsmurf. You'll take a sharpened rebar spike to the tire for a riding pal and bring the words on as it is in a post for a riding pal. I swear I'll never lube your chain with Krazy Glue....
KyMBA
Czar,ATVSmurf,Creep
I didn't read the thread but I heard it was extremely borderline racist. We really need you on board and you guys bring a lot of great personality to the club.
Quit crying and come out for a ride. Hell, I'll buy the beer. Oh...and if its any consolation I agree with Czar on the jumps and other issues.
Czar
I miss the old KyMBA where camaraderie was built on the forum. Czar vs The Week Link. Good Times
Imus thread
As someone mentioned earlier an off topic thread would have solved the problem. It could have been to members only so that would have kept kids and public officals from viewing it. I don't believe topics discussed on a website should be restricted because they're not bike related. People want to discuss other things besides biking and why would they not discuss it with their friends? People need to be more down to earth and level headed.
Never met czar
But hope to soon. I do appreciate his input on our trail issues here at the Run. Besides if everyone always said exactly what they were supposed because they were afraid of getting in trouble we might as well be living in China.
You ever notice how people
You ever notice how people that live in Louisville, owensboro, or cincy dont tell the people that live near and ride cave run how to handle their problems?
When was the last time a Cincy rider said I tell you what you do...you walk right up to the horse and try to run'em off the trail. Or better yet go on out their an build some massive jumps cause heck everyone has a right to public parks? You pay taxes afer all!
Man it sure does go the other way.....keep those opinions coming!
Cause after all living in cities that have pret near 1 million souls is just like living out where you live!
whats with mountain bikers always bickering?
too many beers
Man, anti-don I think I've had too many beers tonight to comprehend your last post. Would someone explain.
bickering
Riders at Cave Run don't tell you how to handle things in the city. Find an example on this site. Oh yea, if we did would you have to listen? I'm sure there's city riders who could solve our horse problem in a sentence. Stop trying to put all of the city and rural riders into groups. Everyone knows that its not that simple. Also stop throwing jabs at Czar and live in the present.
"If you're going to act stupid you have to be tough."
Looks like I get to join the club!!!!
Bang a gong and we shall soon get some rides on. Word to the knobbies.... :)
Where's my Starbuck's card?
It broke my heart when Czar got booted. I thought he was pretty funny. And he still owes me $5 of Starbucks. I never forget these things.
Looks like I get to join the club!!!!
Is that theeeeeeeee TWL on the forums here now????
TWL, I will substitute Save A Lot Morning Delight waffles for Eggo waffles but there is no substitute for you my half brother. Mom wants you to bring the tandem back that you used during your escape from the eastern Kentucky hills last summer. She's tired of having to walk down the holler and across the road to bingo on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That had to be fun coasting 70mph down the mountain at Slade on the Mountain Parkway while riding that stable long wheelbased machine. A fully credited $5 Starbucks card is still forthcoming….
I got booted a long time ago
I got booted a long time ago (but I'm glad to find out I'm in good company!). Made the mistake of posting about our local parks department (kind of makes you reminiscence about the good old days when the club was more focused on its members than trying to please our local parks department).
Czar was also extremely perceptive (not surprising being such an original thinker) about the outcome of the Cherokee Park jump removal. Shortly after the jump removal a historic bridge was badly vandalized in the park, and guess who got the blame (ans: local mountain bikers). It was during last years Mayor's Night Out meeting at Fairdale that Parks Public Information Director let a fellow mountain biker now about our guilt by association (it happened close to the date the jumps were removed, so you guys had to be responsible; ie- I call that guilty until proven innocent, which is a bit backwards from what I've been taught).
Hopefully you don't also receive the "non-invitation" for any upcoming group rides. The Louisville clique is (unfortunately) alive and well.
TWL was indeed devastated..........
I know TWL misses CZAR--wasn't long after he was booted that I think I saw TWL buying coffee at a Thornton's. And lately he's taken up name calling--even called me a "communist agent" in another forum! An agent maybe, I have a few aliases, but never commie!! I bleed red, white and blue!! (and quite frequently I'll add, if any technical riding is involved!).
do you even know what a
do you even know what a communist is?
Yes, I do know.............
but wasn't trying to start a political debate--nor would I take anything TWL said too seriously. And much of what I say is tongue-in-cheek.
To lighten things up: How do you tell when a politician is lying?
Ans: their lips are moving!

Crashcalahan -- if you're
Crashcalahan -- if you're anyone but the biker formeraly known as Dave B., then I gots to say "Oop, I thought you were someone else".
If you ARE dave B., then I'm sticking with my story.
Hallelujah
TWL vs. Czar
Good to know we can find the ongoing struggle for humanity alive and well again.

You see atvsmurf's avatar???? That's how hardcore we are about time management for more riding time over here in eastern Kentucky. We don't have time for bridges....
1' x 1' square back mural tattoos of my avatar are available on group rides for $10.00. All tattoos are done with frayed derailleur cable wire dipped in ink....
