You enjoy hardtails that much? My back is sore sometimes after riding for 2-3 days straight. I want to get a full suspension bike someday. I'll post a frame soon.

thats easy...

I would pick a cannondale prophet frame...main reason, it is well within reach...lol
If it didn't have a squish factor built in...then I would prolly be picking a road bike...

I like the simplicity of a hardtail frame. Less whizbang gadgets to maintain and possibly fail. The Moots is the ultimate for me but one of those frames is waaaaaaaay ahead in my future. In my near future I may try and save up to get something that costs about a third as much. Some may say that a couple grand for a hardtail frame like a Moots is too much to spend on a frame but those same people probably pay that much for living room furniture and televisions. I'd rather spend the big coin on something that I can sit and crank on and watch the woods go by with hah hah.... :)

Sheesh, Czar! That frame would be so waaaaaaaaaaay ahead in my future, I'd only be able to use it if it came in a wheelchair model. Talk about high standards!

Schwinn Rocket 88! That's

Schwinn Rocket 88!

That's only because I had the first generation (bad move) that attached the pivot point w/a bushing around the bottom bracket, as soon as the bushing/frame started to wear, you always had a little slop. The only other drawback was a tight clearance around the rear wheel (wasn't a mud friendly bike, in case you ever ran thru any wet areas).

Nonetheless, it was a nice handling 4-bar linkage system. The second version of the 88 moved the pivot point, and added bearings, up on the seat tube, and also gusseted the seat post and top tube. I think I'll check ebay for a used model.

Note- to go w/the Moots, you'll also need to order the Voler Moots jersey and shorts to complete the package (not to mention some nice carbon shoes, etc./etc.).

The mention of the Schwinn makes me think of the Yeti built Schwinn Homegrown hardtail frames that came in some nice bass boat colors. Like to find one of those in NOS or mint condition....

steel hardtail

I've had alot of frames, but always seem to ride a steel hardtail.

IF's are nice - and I've have one now. But my favorite ride is one my friend Russell built for me. He ordered the tubes from Cali and welded up a nice ride.

But my next ride is going to a Turner. Or a re-Turner as Tonybob likes to call them.

Well, I meant for that to be

Well, I meant for that to be in Czar's frame thread.

sorry!

Jim Crouch here. Not to hijack the thread but just wanted to say hey to Bill Victor. Good to see you on this site. We are trying to get Cave Run back in shape. Your input is always welcome.

Gunnar, Curtlo and Ionic are three steel hardtail frames that I'm debating heavily on. I'll save up and get one out of those three and continue to strive for the Moots someday....

Bill Victor has done so much for mountain biking in his area and his trail building company deal rocks. Hope to ride FATS someday and get some in person trail building/advocacy info from the man known as seenvic....

I have 2 friends w/ Gunnars.

I have 2 friends w/ Gunnars. One friend w/ a Curtto.....and one friend w/ a Moots YBB and a Moots Rigarmootis. He's single, has no life, no gal, wife or kids. But did I mention he has a Moots YBB and a Moots Rigarmootis?

All the above are very nice.

Big shout out to Jim Crouch. Hope to ride w/ you again this summer/fall in the Zilpo area.

Czar...thanks for the nice words. If you make it to FATS, let me know. I will give you the tour.
