The University of Minnesota is now in the trail design and construction publishing business, and the above 29 pg. booklet for only $12 is a bargain for someone wishing to add trails to a small piece of property.
The book includes a very interesting virtually no-cost clinometer. Just take a plastic protractor and attach a small lead fishing weight w/fishing line to the zero point. With the protractor upside down, sight via the straight edge and simply read where the lead weight ends up at.
They also have a much more in-depth, Recreational Trail Design & Construction book, and while I didn't notice the price, owing to the fact that it's a university publication, it offers some unique (more detailed) perspectives that I don't think are covered in the IMBA books I've read. One example is suggested "set-back" from the edge of a trail or stream, and they have a formula that takes into account soil type as well as grade. Would make a very nice addition to someone's personal library. thanks, Don

Thanks for the assistance!
The summaries appear to go into a little more technical detail than the IMBA books.
Interesting that the books are being published out of Minnesota.
