Community Development thru Urban Forestry

Posted in

The Southgate (ie- the southern side of Cincy) Park & Tree Board is hosting the 2nd Annual KY Park & Tree Board Seminar March 9-10 (it's free!).

One of the topcis the seminar shall focus on is: Trees as a Tool for Community Development. It's a very interesting idea, that shows that by increasing green space, communities become much more attractive to residents and it also helps to attract new residents as well.

Learn how to plant and maintain trees in the urban forest, and to also find volunteers and set up an effective board to work w/your local government.

A tie-in to mountain biking, is that same community/economic development angle. Developing an urban forest can be beneficial to the overall community, and mountain bikers can also play a significant role.
