It may be too wet to ride at LBL, but at least you can visit and buy some firewood for only $20 (ie- permit fee). Each Saturday in February LBL officials will be selling the wood at the Hillman Ferry Campground.
The wood is from trees damaged during a November 2005 tornado.
If I'm not mistaken, I think our local parks used to allow people to cut up and remove downed trees, but they may have abandoned that program.
I like to do a lot of custom woodworking, and I've always thought that it would be nice to remove some logs/trees (to say the item I built came from the LBL or Waverly Park for example) but it's a lot of work and expense to harvest and kiln dry lumber. So I take the easy way out and usually locate a small wood operation in So. IN and let them do all of the wood preparation work.
