Tour de France runner-up may be in hot water

Posted in

Tour de France runner-up Oscar Pereiro, who would be declared the winner if Floyd Landis is stripped of the title, twice tested positive for an asthma drug during the race.

The Int'l. Cycling Union granted the Spanish rider a certificate to use the drug.

But France's anti-doping agency doesn't think the waiver was medically justified. We should have a clearer picture of how this will be resolved by next Thursday, the due date for Oscar to provide medical justifications for the drug.

France's anti-doping agency

France's anti-doping agency has cleared Pereiro of any wrongdoing in regards to the asthma medication he took during last years Tour.

Should Floyd Landis lose his appeal of his positive drug test, Pereiro will then be declared the winner.

Floyd Landis has agreed not

Floyd Landis has agreed not to race in France in 07, so it looks like Pereiro is one step closer to being named the 06 Tour de France winner.

Landis would become the first and only winner in the 104 year history of the tour to be stripped of his title.

this is tragic! If stripped

this is tragic! If stripped I vow never to watch cycling in any form again.

WADA is simply ineffective, mismanaged, and vindictive! They consistently ruin the careers and livelyhood of cyclist based not on science but magic. When called out they brush it off with arrogance the likes of which I have never seen.

What irritiates me the most is that you are guilty until proven innocent! But given that the testing is flawed you can never prove your innocents.

And I simply refuse to support what closely resembles the Salem witch hunts of past!

The French won't stop

Until us ugly americans are put back in our place. It's their sport, who are we to dominate their sport.

Man I hate sore losers.
I'm with SS4Life. I may not even watch the tour this year.

That's going to be harder than a crack addict giving up crack.
