Woo hoo!

No more races for a little while, so I guess it’s the end of the season for me. And so it seems that I have begun a tradition to have my season finale at the Iceman race in Michigan. This was my third year to race there and it turned out to be my best effort yet. Although I was 20th out of 25, I was ecstatic, because I predicted and truly thought that I would be last place. I looked up the times of last year’s pro/expert wm and saw that last place was eight minutes faster than my last year’s time, so I psyched myself up to race the clock and not the other racers.

12 Hrs of the Canal Loop

This weekend’s 12 hour race at the Canal Loop was an awesome event! It was great to see so many people who said it was their first endurance race and it was evident that they were really putting forth some effort! Everyone seemed to cheer one another on no matter who was competing against whom. At one point in the race, there was a rider who had a bad spill on his bike and another couple of racers carried him out of the woods not giving a thought to their own race. The injured guy happened to be the same fellow who had helped me out earlier in the day by fixing my spoke!

this one's not about biking

I started out to work this morning just a couple of minutes later than usual, and what do you suppose? I get behind a school bus. After making a few stop-n-go’s and the bus turned a different direction, voila, I was behind a backhoe. It bobbed up and down with its flashing its lights letting me know it was a ‘slow-moving’ vehicle. (kind of figured that one out). Got to the four-lane and went around the backhoe, and had to slow down for a garbage truck. It pulled a way and I was behind a tow truck with a big load! What are the odds of getting behind all those in one morning?
